Ocala man arrested after woman claims injuries following early-morning altercation

Bernard Edward Satterfield

Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Ocala man Thursday after a woman reported injuring her elbow and hip during an altercation.

When deputies arrived at the home on NE 45th Street at 3:39 a.m., the woman told them she had been in her garage arguing with 62-year-old Bernard Edward Satterfield. She said he pushed her and she landed on her back, causing an injury to her elbow and soreness in her hip, a sheriff’s office report states.

A deputy noted a small “superficial scratch” on the woman’s right elbow and slight swelling and redness, “consistent with her account” of what happened. The woman also refused medical treatment, the report says.

After being read his rights, Satterfield admitted to pushing the woman and causing her to fall. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with battery. He was released Saturday morning on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 15 to answer to the charge.
