Ronald Eugene Gomillion, 67, of Ocala, FL, passed away at his home with his loving
wife Patricia York by his side on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 7:45 p.m. after a courageous battle with colon cancer.

Gene was born May 22, 1956, to Howard Lee and Alfreda “Goldie” Gomillion and was the
youngest of 11 children. A lifelong resident of Ocala, he graduated from Vanguard High School.
Gene built a successful life doing what he loved: mowing lawns, building and flipping homes,
and working for the Marion County School Board. He was most proud of working as the
Maintenance Supervisor for Vanguard High School, especially since he graduated from the
school.

Gene met his wife, Pat, in 1985, and together, they raised Pat’s two children, Kristin and Danny.
Gene was devoted to his family, immensely proud of his kids, and adored his wife with
unconditional love like none other. He was a collector of antique cars and corvettes. Of the many antique automobiles he owned, Gene loved his mint green 1955 International pick-up truck and Ford Model A the most. He was a Corvette enthusiast and owned a 2012 silver Grand Sport Corvette at the time of his passing. This was his dream car.

In addition to restoring vehicles, Gene had a passion for antique gas pumps. He cherished time
restoring and fixing the pumps to bring them back to their original glory. On any given weekend, Gene could be found working on his cars and gas pumps, sitting on his porch swing smoking cigars with his best friend, Dale Miller, and telling stories about “old Ocala.”

He loved everything about growing up and living in Ocala and was proud to call it home.

Gene is preceded in death by his mother, Goldie; his father, Howard; brothers Jimmy Gomillion,
Wilbur Gomillion, Jerry Gomillion, and Royce Gomillion; and sisters Dianne Reeves,
Mayvelline Riley, and Judy Gomillion.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia York; children Kristin McCaffrey (Mike) and Daniel York (Christie); grandchildren Riley Richardson, Emmy York, and Batey York; his brothers Robert Gomillion (Harriet), Rocky Gomillion (Valerie), and William Gomillion (Linda); and many nieces and nephews.

Gene will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help anyone, especially his family
and close friends. He was generous, loyal, strong, and full to the brim with knowledge gained
through his life experiences: landscaper, business owner, landlord, contractor, and maintenance
supervisor – he could fix or build anything. He gave everything to fight his battle against cancer
and will be missed dearly.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life at the family home on Saturday,
May 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
