Michael Reznik, beloved husband of Nancy Reznik, passed away on April 25, 2024 at the age of 77.

Mike was born in Tirschenreuth, Germany on January 23, 1947 in a displaced persons camp to the late Max and Rachael Reznik, both miraculous Holocaust survivors. The family then emigrated to the State of Israel in 1948 and lived there until 1959, when they finally settled in New Haven, Connecticut.

In 1967, Mike became a U.S. citizen, joining the Army Reserves in 1970 as a Medical Corpsman and then earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Southern Connecticut State University by 1971. He met the love of his life, Nancy Abramson, while in school, and they would marry the very next weekend after college graduation!

Mike and Nancy moved to Killingworth, Connecticut in 1974, raising a son, Eben, and two daughters: Rebecca and Davina. Mike spent most of his career as a residential home builder, with Nancy always by his side as partner.

Mike, AKA “Mad Mike,” as he was playfully known later in life to family, friends, and colleagues, distinguished himself by a unique brand of humor and larger-than-life personality that was even more endearing the more you knew the man and his big heart.

Mike wore many hats: as an adventurer who attended motorcycle rallies in Sturgis and Daytona, as a doting grandfather of 6 grandchildren, and perhaps most significantly as a builder with the vision to create beautiful homes that he would precisely and proudly craft with his favorite heavy machinery. The high-quality homes he built with Nancy are only part of a long-lasting legacy that will touch the hearts of families for years to come.

Mike is survived by his wife, Nancy, son, Eben Reznik (Deb), daughter Davina Newman (David), Rebecca Harkin (Michael), all of Killingworth, Connecticut, 6 grandchildren: Jakob, Joshua, Jaden, Cole, Braeden, and Addison, and sister Tova Reznik of Delray Beach, Florida.
