U.S. Navy continuing bomb testing at Ocala National Forest this week

The United States Navy will continue testing bombs this week at the Pinecastle Range Complex within the Ocala National Forest.

On Wednesday, May 8, the Navy will conduct inert bombing exercises from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to a statement issued by the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville.

During the bombing periods, local residents may hear loud noises emanating from the forest. Wildlife may also be temporarily displaced as a result of the bombing.

Officials are advising anyone driving around or through the Ocala National Forest to proceed with extreme caution.

All those who live nearby are advised to secure items that could attract wildlife.
