A 31-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of attempted second-degree murder after another man was shot in the neck and leg early Sunday morning in Ocala.
Ocala police officers responded at 4:42 a.m. to 1223 S.W. Ft. King Street where they found the 27-year-old male victim, who was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
Lester Ray Smith was located near the crime scene and was established as a person of interest. As the investigation progressed, probable cause for arrest was established. He is also facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a felon.
