Marion County deputies and Dunnellon Police officers worked together Monday night to arrest an armed man carrying a large amount of heroin, other drugs and a stolen gun.

According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office report, Dunnellon Police Officer Michael Raines spotted 38-year-old Michael Gore standing in the parking lot of the Dunnellon Wal-Mart, located at 11012 North Williams Street. Raines had been notified by Marion County deputies earlier in the day that there was probable cause for Gore’s arrest in connection with an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment of a woman last weekend.

After Gore left the parking lot, Raines and several deputies stopped his car and took him into custody. A search off his vehicle revealed a “trafficking amount” of heroin that was individually packaged, methamphetamine, Oxycodone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the report states, adding that a handgun that had been reported stolen to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was found near the driver’s seat.

Gore was charged with armed trafficking in heroin, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell, grand theft of a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of cannabis (less than 20 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, dealing in stolen property, grand theft, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery and false imprisonment.

Gore was booked into the Marion County Jail at 1:34 a.m. Tuesday. He is being held on no bond for the battery, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon charges. His bond for the other charges is $44,000.
