Four men and a 17-year-old were arrested Friday after an early morning burglary at an Ocala auto sports dealership.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to Martin’s Yamaha, located at 4050 North U.S. Highway 441, at about 4:20 a.m. after an employee saw five people on the store’s surveillance video who were trying to break into the business. The masked suspects entered the property by jumping the fence and sliding underneath the dealership’s gate, a sheriff’s office report states.
Deputies immediately responded to the business and located the suspects – Jacoby Johnson, 22; Bernard Parker, 20; Darion Sims, 21; Keondre Smith, 23; and C-Ray Austin, 17 – and their vehicles behind a church just south of the incident location. Property Crimes detectives then responded to assume their investigation.
The suspects gave conflicting stories as to why they were there, and their clothing and descriptions were the same as the people observed in the surveillance video. After a thorough investigation, detectives arrested the four men and the juvenile and charged them with multiple offenses.
Nothing was taken during this burglary, but on March 20 multiple suspects in a car and U-Haul forced entry into Martin’s Yamaha and stole six motorcycles. Similar incidents also have occurred across the state.
Johnson, Parker and Sims were charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, possession of burglary tools with the intent to use and conspiring to commit a third-degree felony (burglary). Smith and Austin were charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and conspiring to commit a third-degree felony (burglary). Parker also faces an additional charge of possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams.
