A Market of Marion vendor met a Marion County sheriff’s deputy Monday at the Silver Springs Shores office to report a theft of several items.
The 73-year-old Ocala woman told the deputy that she had a table at the market, located at 12888 S. U.S. Hwy. 27/441, and was last there on Sunday, Oct. 14. She said she left the Belleview location around 3 p.m. and secured her merchandise by tying a tarp over her items. But when she returned the following Saturday, the table had been cleared of her merchandise – Snow Baby figurines, a glass bowl with fruit, Precious Moments collectibles, a “Happy Birthday” musical snow globe, dominoes and a musical doll, all valued at $1,555 – and a neighboring vendor was using it, a sheriff’s office report says.
The woman said the other vendor told her that the table was empty when they arrived at about 4 p.m. so they were using it for their own booth. The woman also said she spoke with another vendor across the aisle who remembered her table being stocked with items the day before at about 2 p.m.
The woman was provided with a case number and asked to call the sheriff’s office with any further information.
