An Ocala man with a long history of arrests in Marion County was arrested Tuesday afternoon after being pulled over for passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone.
Shane Russell Quarles, 32, of 4227 NE Jacksonville Road, was traveling west in a blue Dodge pickup truck when he was stopped in the 1400 block of Northeast 42nd Street. In addition to being ticketed for the moving violation, Quarles was charged with driving with a suspended license and as a habitual traffic offender.
According to court records, the Ohio native has 11 prior arrests dating back to 2004 for offenses including domestic battery, theft, burglary, resisting arrest, reckless driving and five previous incidents of driving with a suspended license. His most recent arrest was in June for domestic battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment.
Quarles was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released the next morning on $1,000 bond. A court date was not set.
