An Ocala man was arrested and a woman was sent to the hospital after nasty altercation over money and the woman’s refusal to have sex with him.

Jeffrey Strelioff, 60, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Wednesday night at the residence he shares with the victim.

According to the Ocala Police Department report, an officer was called to the Circle K store at 1986 SW 27th Ave. to investigate a suspicious incident. When they arrived, they found a woman bleeding from her wrist inside a red 2010 Jeep Wrangler. Strelioff was in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

The officer observed blood near the passenger side where the victim was seated. There also was blood on the victim’s clothing and body. The victim had applied a homemade tourniquet to her forearm and wrapped it with what appeared to be a towel, according to the report.

When asked to elaborate, the victim said it was an accident. She claimed that she and Strelioff were fighting at their residence. She said Strelioff had hit her, and they rolled around on the floor, which led to her injuring her left forearm. The officer then went to the driver’s side and placed Strelioff in handcuffs, the report says.

EMS was called to provide aid to the victim, who was placed in an ambulance. When asked to walk through what had happened to her, the victim said the fight started over money and her refusal to have sex with Strelioff. She said he then got upset and said he would have her put back in jail due to her checkered past, according to the report.

The victim said a tussle ensued in the kitchen and they both started shoving each other around. She said she was punched in the face and lip, and that Strelioff grabbed her by her hair and allegedly slammed her face into the kitchen floor several times. When asked how she injured her hand, she insisted it was an accident and she fell onto a knife. When asked directly whether Strelioff injured her hand, the victim said no, according to the report.

The victim said she saw law enforcement at the residence a few hours earlier, but Strelioff told her not to contact them or he would “beat her (expletive deleted).” She said Strelioff said nobody would believe her if she filed a report because she was always in trouble, the report says.

The victim said they fought outside and throughout the house. When asked where the knife was, she said it was somewhere in the kitchen, according to the report. The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Strelioff told the officer that the victim injured herself with a serrated knife. When asked whether he hit the victim, he said she punched him in the face first, so he responded by slapping her in the face with the back of his hand. Strelioff said the victim fell to the ground on her own because she was intoxicated. He also said she was “crazy.” And when asked if the argument was about sex, he hesitantly said no, called the victim a derogatory name and said he “picked her up out of the hood.” Strelioff said he loved her and all he wanted to do was help, the report says.

Strelioff consented to a search of the residence, where officers observed multiple items scattered throughout the house, including broken plates, knives and household items. There were large pools of blood throughout the living room, bedroom, kitchen and near the front door. No blood was found on any of the knives. However, there was a large broken white ceramic plate in the hallway next to the bedroom with drops of blood on it, according to the report.

An officer went to the hospital to give the woman a Domestic Violence Packet. She refused the shield form and was unable to provide a written statement due to her hand injury, the report says.

Strelioff was taken the Marion County Jail, where he was released Saturday morning on $1,000 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on May 17.
