Despite the dramatic changes coming to Downtown Ocala in the coming months, one restaurant mainstay is holding steadfast and cooking up classic New Orleans cuisine.
Harry’s Seafood, Bar & Grille, located at the corner of Broadway and 1st Ave (24 SE 1st Ave), has been a staple in Ocala and its four other locations across the state of Florida.
The menu is filled with southern staples like jambalaya, red beans and rice, étouffée, and po boys, offering a taste of New Orleans with a modern twist in almost every selection.
One of those classics is boudin balls, a traditional New Orleans dish that combines cajun sausage with rice and creole seasonings in a deep fried ball served with Harry’s house made remoulade.
In addition to a variety of soups, salads, and appetizers, the restaurant has extensive chicken and seafood options, including the classic redfish topped with a crab cake.
Alongside the Chicken Baton Rouge and Southern Fried Chicken Tenders, Harry’s offers a simple Chicken Jolie Blonde that showcases a chicken breast over a crispy grit cake accompanied with a parmesan basil cream sauce.
The restaurant even puts a delicious spin on a classic dessert, inserting Oreos into beignets and turning the popular donut into a fried carnival-like snack. Each serving includes six beignets covered in a white chocolate bourbon sauce that is sure to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Harry’s is open seven days a week, starting at 11 a.m. each day and closing at 10 p.m. from Monday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
