Tiffany Elisabeth Mater, 26, was arrested last week at the Wal-Mart at 9570 SW Hwy. 200 in Ocala and charged with larceny/petit theft.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called early Tuesday morning to the Wal-Mart at 9570 SW Hwy. 200. When he arrived, an asset protection employee said he watched 26-year-old Tiffany Elisabeth Mater walk through the grocery area shortly before 2 a.m. and place several items inside her purse. He said Mater then went to the self-checkout area and paid for several items – but not those in her purse, a sheriff’s office report states.

The employee said Mater left the store at 2:07 a.m. with the unpaid merchandise still inside her purse. He said he stopped her and identified himself. And he added that the merchandise stolen was valued at $27.84.

Mater, who lives at 13246 SW 3rd Ct. in Ocala, was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with larceny/petit theft. No future court date has yet been set, jail records show.
