An Ocala man who stole a Snickers candy bar from an Ocala drug store – and then told the clerk to call the police – is behind bars in the Marion County Jail.
An employee at the Walgreens, located at 807 E Silver Springs Blvd., said that 48-year-old Adam Dale Arbuckle walked up to the cash register and picked up the $1.39 candy bar from the display shelf. She said he told her he was stealing the candy bar and then exited the store without paying for the item, an Ocala Police report states.
An officer watched video surveillance footage that showed Arbuckle lift the candy bar up, show it to the employee and then exit the store without paying for it. The man on the video was identified as Arbuckle by the black hat, white shirt, black pants and black boots he was wearing, the report says.
Arbuckle was taken into custody and refused to speak with officers. A computer check showed that he had a prior conviction for petit theft in Marion County on July 13, 2007.
Arbuckle was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with retail petit theft (second offense). He was being held on $500 bond and is due in court on Oct. 22 at 8:30 a.m. to answer to the charge.
