Marcus Joseph Mercer
Marcus Joseph Mercer

Marcus Joseph Mercer, 67, born November 12, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio, to Joseph Francis Mercer and Margaret Lucille Weithman, passed away May 25, 2020 in Gainesville, Florida. Marc passed away from complication of his long battle with diabetes.

Marc was a dedicated lifelong salesman, his love of sales was apparent via his love of people, which helped him become a great salesman. He never met a stranger. His sales business took him all over the United States and across the globe to work in international markets that could be brought to his clients in the US. Never afraid to go to the ends of the earth for a better solution for his clients. The one thing that Marc is most remembered for was his habitual morning coffee routine. He received a diploma from St. Mary’s Catholic Central in Monroe, Michigan. His hobbies included love of the water which was a source of profound enjoyment: water skiing, fishing, but most of all relaxing. In more recent years his passion moved towards watching his grandkids play baseball. “Keep your eyes on the ball!” could be heard from the bleachers…or the front seat of the car. He was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic in Ocala, Florida.

Marc was preceded in death by both parents, as well as by his brother Matthew (Roberta) Mercer of South Pointe, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Marie Boyer Mercer of Ocala, Florida; his children, Emily (William) North and their two children, Wyatt and Wylie of Ocala, Florida, Benjamin Mercer of Richmond, California, and Ross Mercer of Los Angeles, California; his brother, Joseph (Amy) Mercer of Atlanta, Georgia, sisters, Karen (Alan) Wolfe of Monroe, Michigan, Candy (Bryant) Marriner of Morrisville, North Carolina, his in-laws, Mary Jo (Michael) Webb of Centennial, Colorado, Scott (Ellen) Boyer of Custar, Ohio, Cheryl Boyer of Toledo, Ohio, Sue (Dan) McGrady of Henryville, Indiana, Nancy (Larry) Neiling of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Julie (John) Hanley of Plymouth, Michigan, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 29, 2020 in the Chapel of Roberts Funeral Homes, Bruce East, 2739 SE Maricamp Road, Ocala, Florida 34471, with Father Patrick J. Sheedy officiating.
