Retired Kentucky State Trooper Sandra Marie Taylor, 73, of Ocala, FL died January 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family from complications of multiple sclerosis.

She was born to Godfrey and Norma Tretter on May 7, 1947 in Covington, Kentucky. Sandy is survived by her devoted husband John L. Taylor of Ocala, Florida, son Brian (Lisa) Schonecker of Hudson, Florida, stepchildren Gary (Daphne) Taylor of Westchester, Ohio and Jodi Lee Taylor of Ocala, Florida. Dear sister to Philip (Cydnie) Tretter of Dunedin, Florida and Sue (Chip) Foltz of Burlington, Kentucky. She leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sandy graduated from the Kentucky State Police Academy in 1978. She was the first female Kentucky State trooper, bravely paving the the way for women in law enforcement. Sandy was well respected and served her profession proudly. On June 4, 1982 Sandy was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. A momentous event in the life of a citizen of Kentucky. She retired in 1993 after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. John and Sandy enjoyed traveling the world and she especially liked telling people they had visited all fifty states.
Sandy was a faithful servant to her Catholic faith and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dunnellon, Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future at the First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon, Florida. Interment will take place in the Police Memorial Gardens at the Vine Street Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati Ohio.
