Sheron Rose Greene, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Sunday afternoon, January 31, 2021, in Brooksville, Florida, surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Ocala on May 6, 1946 where she lived most of her life. She was a lifelong Catholic, attending Blessed Trinity Church in Ocala.

Sheron was a 1964 Howard High graduate and attended Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida and Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She worked as a state administrator in both Florida and Connecticut. Sheron lived a full life and was known to give freely of herself in support of others in her community. Sheron enjoyed writing, publishing and public recitation of her poetry during various events while others enjoyed listening to her voice. Sheron was a portrait artist who created drawings using various pencil and traditional mediums.

Sheron is preceded in death by her biological father, William H. Simms, Sr. and her mother, Dora Mae Thomas (Prince Sr.) as well as siblings, William Simms Jr., Travis Simms, Earl Simms, Lavoy McNeil, Fay Grasty, Brenda Hartley Mitchell (Opher), Prince Thomas Jr., and Terry W. Thomas (Cassaundra).

She leaves to cherish memories of her time with us, four sisters, Mary Sue Rich (Frank), Ocala, FL; Mary Thomas-Oliver, (Daniel) Brooksville, FL; Audrey Thomas Clark, Ocala, FL; Margaret ‘Marti’ Thomas Johnson, Wesley Chapel, FL; and a sister-in law, Cassaundra (Terry), Spring Hill, FL; seven children, Valaria Griffin, Charlotte, NC;  Eugene Greene Jr., Ocala, FL; Karen Greene, San Diego, CA; Louis Greene Carter (Pat), Ocala, FL; Tina Curry (Alexis), Groveland, FL; Brenda S. Johnson (Rudolph), Clearwater, FL; and Robin Greene-Harper (Ochea), Charlotte, NC; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, a very special caregiver, Fonda Favors (Paul), Ocala, FL, and a host of sorrowing relatives and caring friends.

The wake is open to the public on Friday, February 12, 2021, 6:15 pm.
