A 63-year-old Ocala man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday night that also left another Ocala man with serious injuries.
The crash took place shortly before 8 p.m. at the busy intersection of S.W. 80th Avenue and S.W. 90th Street. A sedan being driven by a 22-year-old man was traveling northbound in the right lane of S.W. 80th Avenue, approaching the intersection, when the driver of the other sedan attempted to turn left on S.W. 90th Street, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
The vehicles collided and the sedan being driven by the 63-year-old Ocala man slammed into a concrete utility pole and came to rest on the east grass shoulder of S.W. 80th Avenue. The other sedan came to rest partially on the sidewalk on the northeast corner of the intersection, the report says.
The 63-year-old Ocala man was pronounced dead at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts and the crash remains under investigation.
