An Ocala man was arrested recently after a woman claimed he battered her while she was giving him a ride home.

The woman told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that she drove 40-year-old Joshua Glenn Jones to his residence on S.W. 40th Avenue and he “willingly” gave her $400. She said they started arguing and when they arrived at his home, Jones refused to get out of the vehicle and demanded his money back, a sheriff’s office report states. The reason the two exchanged money was redacted from the report.

The victim said they got into a verbal altercation and Jones slapped her in the face and grabbed her by her hair, pulling her hard enough so that she was doubled over the vehicle’s console. She said he continued to refuse to leave the vehicle until she called 911 for help, the report says.

Deputies didn’t observe any redness or other marks on the victim’s face and she said she didn’t have any bumps on the back of her head from her hair being pulled. But she said her head was still hurting from the altercation, according to the report.

Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery. He was released on $500 bond and is due in court May 13 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
