Marion County reported 29 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, with 20 of those being identified in Ocala.
Overall, Marion County is reporting 31,520 cases, with 968 deaths and 2,205 people hospitalized since the virus first hit Florida in March 2020. A total of 141,083 people have been vaccinated, with 117,752 receiving both doses.
Ocala is now reporting 23,030 cases, which amounts to 73 percent of those reported in Marion County. Others have been identified in Summerfield (1,944), Dunnellon (1,467), Belleview (1,390), Silver Springs (693), Ocklawaha (529), Citra (517), Fort McCoy (332), Reddick (318), Anthony (309), Weirsdale (260), The Villages (183), Salt Springs (51), Flemington (34), McIntosh (32), Sparr (28), Orange Lake (27), Candler (21), Lowell (20), East Lake (12), Fairfield (8) and Orange Springs (8).
All told, Florida is reporting 2,292,004 COVID-19 cases – an increase of 2,482 in a 24-hour period. Of those, 2,249,210 are residents. A total of 85,537 COVID-19 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 32,658 in correctional facilities. Across the state, there have been 36,798 deaths and 93,110 people have been hospitalized.
