Marion County Animal Services announced recently that it was the beneficiary of a $50,000 grant from Petco Love, the nonprofit extension of the popular pet store chain.

The group, which manages the no-kill Marion County Animal Center, has plans to upgrade animal housing and the quality of care for shelter pets with the grant.

“These past few years have been challenging, but also truly rewarding. We feel honored to be recognized and look forward to giving our pets even more opportunities to be seen, comforted, and given a second chance at a happy life,” read a Facebook post from Marion County Animal Services.

“Today, Petco Love announces an investment in Marion County Animal Services and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love.

Marion County Animal Services achieved its goal of becoming a no-kill agency in 2019. In 2020, the group accomplished a 94% live release rate.
