The Silver River Museum reopened earlier this summer

The museum, which is located at 1445 NE 58th Avenue, reopened its doors on Saturday, June 12 and will stay open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The museum has added “Dugout Canoes,” a new exhibit produced by the Florida Museum at the University of Florida. The organization recently announced on its Facebook page that it is looking for volunteer docents to help in the museum on the weekends.

The Silver River Museum and Environmental Education Center is a program of Marion County Public Schools. The museum is located within Silver Springs State Park and works in close cooperation with the Florida Park Service.
