Silver Springs Pizza was temporarily closed last week after a health inspection failure revealed nearly 30 violations, including 8 considered high priority.
The restaurant, which is located at 5545 East Silver Springs Boulevard, was temporarily closed on Monday and Tuesday of last week after an inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation cited 28 health code violations.
Among the eight high priority violations cited during the initial inspection were roach activity, the presence of live, flying insects, and the presence of other pests, including a dead lizard found behind a roll cart, according to the report.
The establishment was also cited for increasing its seating without obtaining septic system approval for the change. Currently, the establishment has 69 seats in the dining area.
Upon re-inspection on the following day (Tuesday, August 31), the health inspector cited three high priority violations, including roaches and flying insects again.
The restaurant passed a third inspection on Tuesday and was permitted to reopen. The report noted that a follow-up inspection was required as one intermediate violation remained.
