A 30-year-old Ocala man was arrested after allegedly throwing a Four Loko canned, alcoholic beverage at a victim in an attempt to start a fight.
On Sunday afternoon, multiple deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a battery at the Diamond Oil gas station located at 2780 Southeast 58th Avenue.
A victim says as he was exiting the gas station, 30-year-old Kevin Ray Russell asked him if he wanted to fight. The victim says he advised Russell to go about his business and turned around to walk away. As he was walking away, the victim alleges Russell threw a Four Loko alcoholic beverage at his head and back.
The victim says Russell began attempting to fight everyone in the parking lot.
While attempting to antagonize those around him, Russell was approached by a witness who identified himself as an off-duty Belleview Police Department sergeant.
The sergeant says he attempted to break up the disturbance before Russell fled from the location. The sergeant chased Russell and commanded him to stop multiple times before additional deputies arrived and detained him near SE 28th Street.
Multiple witnesses corroborated the victim and sergeant’s statements.
Russell was transported to the Marion County Jail on September 12 and faces charges of battery and resisting an officer without violence. His bond was set at $2,000. He is next due in court on Thursday, October 7, according to jail records.
