A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck while crossing a busy intersection in northwest Ocala.
According to the Ocala Police Department, 47-year-old Alton Ware was crossing Pine Street and NW 35th Street on Thursday morning when he was hit and struck by a semi-truck.
Initially, the department reported that Ware had died en route to the hospital. The department later reported that Ware was trauma alerted to the hospital and was in critical condition. Hours later, Ware died as a result of injuries sustained from the accident.
The crash is being investigated by the Ocala Police Department. Southbound lanes of traffic from NW 35th Street to NW 28th Street were blocked for hours in the morning.
