After several delays, the final design for the Croskey Mural is set to be unveiled during the upcoming week.
On Thursday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m., the design for a new mural will be revealed at the Public Art Gathering being held at E.D. Croskey Recreation Center (1510 NW 4th Street in Ocala).
The mural was inspired by the community and will be featured on the west and south-facing walls of the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center.
After the city sought public input for the new mural, the final design presentation was originally scheduled for Friday, October 8 and was later rescheduled for Thursday, October 28. According to a press release, the decision to postpone the presentation date was made to allow the public more time to submit stories and images to the muralist, Cosby Hayes, and literary artist, Cynthia Graham.
Three gatherings were held at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center and two online forms were offered to the public as ways to participate in the mural’s concept and design.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be temperature checks upon entry and cleaning procedures will be in place. Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distancing of six feet.
