Temperatures will be plummeting throughout Marion County this weekend.
Marion County will see temperatures dropping into the 30’s late Friday night and early Saturday morning, and the wind chill will be in the mid-20’s by sunrise.
The high temperature on Saturday will only reach the upper 40’s and there will be sustained northwesterly winds between 15 to 20 miles per hour throughout the day.
A Hard Freeze is forecast on Saturday night, with low temperatures falling into the mid-20’s by sunrise on Sunday.
The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope (320 NW 1st Avenue in Ocala) is offering accommodations for anyone that needs shelter from the cold weather.
Check-in time is at 6:30 p.m. and the center is prepared for an expected influx of individuals seeking shelter due to the lower temperatures.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office’s emergency management division will be working with The Salvation Army, Interfaith Emergency Services, the Continuum of Care group, and other community partners to ensure the safety of everyone that needs shelter during cold weather.
