Ocala Assistant City Manager Bill Kauffman has announced that he will be retiring next month.
Kauffman made the announcement in a letter addressed to Interim City Manager Pete Lee which was dated on Wednesday, April 20. The announcement came one day after former City Manager Sandra Wilson was fired by city council members in a 3-2 vote.
In the letter, Kauffman said, “I have worked with a great group of people at the City and am proud to have participated in the progress and growth the City has made over the last seven years.”
Kauffman provided a two-week notice, and his last day will be on Wednesday, May 4.
In August of 2015, Kauffman became the Assistant City Manager. His responsibilities in that role have included the operations of finance, budget, procurement, information technology, Ocala fiber network, electric utility, utility billing and customer service, and legislative affairs.
At the end of his resignation letter, Kauffman said, “It’s been a privilege to have served the City of Ocala, and I wish the City well.”
