According to OSO, the opening concert of the season will feature the full orchestra and “some of the spookiest tone poems ever written.”

The concert will begin with the magic of Paul Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, and the orchestra will descend into Dante’s Inferno with Tchaikovsky’s Francesca da Rimini, which OSO describes as “a tale of love, betrayal, and the moaning, swirling souls of the underworld.”

In the second half of the concert, the orchestra will perform Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain. The performance will then “depart into the dark” with Dvořák’s The Golden Spinning Wheel, a “grotesque story of murder, magic, wolves, forests, and one special spinning wheel,” according to OSO.

Tickets are on sale and range from $15 to $40.
