The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department’s monthly “Kayak & Koffee” program will take paddlers to the Silver River on Friday, February 10.

At 7:45 a.m. on the day of the event, all participants will meet at Brick City Adventure Park (1211 SE 22nd Road in Ocala). After enjoying coffee and light refreshments, transportation will be provided to Ray Wayside Park in Silver Springs.

Once paddlers arrive at the park, they will begin kayaking against the Silver River’s current before floating back with the current. The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department states that participants will have an opportunity to see a variety of local wildlife including monkeys, manatees, and turtles.

The event is open to anyone ages 15 and up, and beginners are welcome.

There is a $50 fee per participant, and all kayaks and gear will be provided. This fee will be lowered to $25 for anyone who brings their own equipment.
