Belleview High School has hired a new coach to rebuild its football program.

After hiring two coaches in as many years, Principal Heather Guest announced on Monday that Thomas Elliott is the new leader of the football program. Guest stated that Elliott brings a “wealth of experience and knowledge” to local students, and the principal believes that he is “in it for the long haul.”

Elliott played quarterback at the University of Northern Alabama, and he was part of the coaching staff that won three state championships in four years at Leeds High School.

Elliott rose through the high school and college ranks, including at Bay High School in Pensacola and most recently at Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala. He also served as the head coach of the Saarland Hurricanes, which is a National Football League (NFL) program in Europe.

Principal Guest is excited about Elliott’s “wealth of knowledge of the game” as well as his “character and drive to make players better individuals.”

“He is building a program that Belleview can be proud of, and our students and community deserve that,” added Principal Guest.

Phillip Small, Belleview High School’s Athletic Director and fellow coach, stated that Elliott’s mission is to build a football program, not just a team. “His background proves he can do just that, and I cannot wait for our kids, faculty, and community to know him. His impact will be swift and positive.”

Elliott is currently completing the new hire process. According to Principal Guest, Elliott will begin rebuilding the Rattler football program in the upcoming weeks.
