A 39-year-old Ocala woman was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after she was accused of waving a gun around and threatening one of her neighbors.
On Thursday, an MCSO deputy responded to a residence on NW 65th Street in reference to an individual who was waving a gun around. The deputy noted in the MCSO report that a concerned citizen had contacted the sheriff’s office to advise that a woman, identified as Calechia Nesha Williams, was walking up and down the road with a firearm.
Upon arrival at the incident location, the deputy observed Williams standing in front of her home. She was holding a silver gun in her right hand, which was down by her side, and she also had a sheathed knife hanging from her neck on a lanyard, according to the MCSO report.
Williams was detained in handcuffs and placed inside the deputy’s patrol vehicle.
The deputy responded to the neighbor’s residence and made contact with the female victim. She advised that she was outside when she observed Williams walking down the road and “waving the gun around in a reckless manner,” according to the MCSO report.
The victim stated that Williams stopped in front of the victim’s home and allegedly yelled that she wanted to shoot the victim for previously calling law enforcement. In the MCSO report, the deputy noted that the sheriff’s office had also responded to an earlier call for service involving Williams and the victim.
The victim told the deputy that she feared for her safety while Williams was waving the gun in her direction. She also claimed that Williams told her, “I want to shoot you for calling the cops earlier.” According to the victim, Williams then proceeded to walk down the roadway while repeatedly waving the gun around in a reckless manner.
Two eyewitnesses spoke with the deputy and advised that they saw Williams walking down the road while holding a gun, according to the MCSO report.
The deputy returned to the patrol vehicle to speak with Williams. After being read her Miranda rights, Williams advised that she “likes to walk down the road a lot.” She stated that she had the gun to “protect herself from dogs and the neighbors because they are all ganging up on her,” according to the MCSO report.
When the deputy asked if Williams had verbally threatened to kill the victim for calling law enforcement, she denied the allegation. Williams claimed that she was waving the gun around because she was “stretching her arms before going to the gym.”
Williams was arrested, transported to Marion County Jail, and she was later released on $2,000 bond. She is facing a felony charge for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
