A 37-year-old Ocala woman living in a tent outside a local residence was arrested after the homeowner accused her of breaking a window with a rock during an argument.

On Sunday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the incident location due to reports of a possible residential burglary. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the female victim who advised that she had gotten into an argument with Crystal Dawn Perez, according to the MCSO report.

The victim stated that Perez lives on the property but stays in a tent located outside the residence. At the time of the incident, the victim advised that Perez became upset when the victim turned on a light that also lit up the outside of the yard, and a verbal altercation ensued.

During the argument, the victim stood at a window inside the residence while Perez was outside the home. The victim stated that Perez proceeded to pick up an unknown object and attempted to throw it through the window, which caused the window to break upon impact, according to the MCSO report.

Moments before the object was thrown at the window, the victim advised that Perez had threatened her by stating that the victim was “gonna get it.” This alleged statement made the victim fear that she was going to be struck by the thrown object. The MCSO report stated that the object never hit the victim.

The deputy observed the window and noted in the report that it was broken, with glass visible on the ground. A large flat rusted piece of metal was also observed on the ground near the window, and the victim initially believed that it may have been the object that Perez had thrown at the window, according to the MCSO report.

The deputy made contact with Perez. After being read her Miranda rights, Perez stated that she threw a rock at the victim’s window because she was “trying to defend herself” from the victim. Perez told the deputy that the victim was a “murderer.”

Perez told the deputy that she did not throw the rock to break the window. Instead, Perez advised that she threw the rock in an attempt to “break the victim’s face,” according to the MCSO report.

Perez was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held on $2,000 bond. She is facing a felony charge for aggravated domestic assault with intent to commit a felony.

A court date has been scheduled at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, according to jail records.
