An archaeologist will stop by the Fort King National Historic Landmark this week to lead a discussion on artifacts and local history.
The upcoming “Lunch with the Archaeologist” event will take place on Thursday, March 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the event, Gary Ellis (Director Emeritus from the Gulf Archaeology Research Institute) will talk about several topics including the fort and the various artifacts that have been found on-site.
There is no cost to attend the event and it is open to anyone who is 13 years of age or older. No registration is required.
Those interested in attending this Thursday’s event are encouraged to pack a lunch, bring a lawn chair, and join the archaeologist under the gathering chickee at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, which is located at 3925 E Fort King Street in Ocala.
