Marion County Public Schools will be giving away free Google Chromebooks this weekend during an informative event that will focus on the topics of internet safety and educational apps.
On Saturday, April 1, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., MCPS will host its “Let’s Talk Tech” event at the following six locations in Marion County:
- Forest High School (5000 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala).
- Marion Technical Institute (1614 E Fort King Street in Ocala).
- Greater New Hope Church (484 Emerald Road in Ocala).
- E.D. Croskey Recreation Center (1510 NW 4th Street in Ocala).
- Belleview High School (10400 SE 36th Avenue in Belleview).
- North Marion Middle School (2085 W Highway 329 in Citra).
In addition to learning about cyber security and digital apps, the families in attendance will be eligible to receive one free Google Chromebook for MCPS students enrolled in K-12 while supplies last. Pre-K/VPK or students attending private or charter schools are not eligible for the free device, according to MCPS.
Parents or authorized adults listed in Skyward will need to provide the student’s ID number to pick up the Google Chromebook. Students do not need to be present, and registration is not required.
