A man was rescued by Marion County firefighters on Sunday morning after he became stuck in a tree.
Shortly after 10:05 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the 22500 block of NE 103rd Court in Fort McCoy in reference to a man who was trapped in a tree. According to MCFR, the man was trimming the tree when one of its large limbs pinned him.
MCFR units from Fort McCoy Station #7 arrived at the tree by 10:18 a.m. After a lieutenant established command, ladders were deployed to the tree and firefighters used them to make contact with the man.
In order to lower the man safely to the ground, firefighters determined that a high angle rescue was needed. Additional crew members from MCFR’s Anthony Station #1 soon arrived on scene to conduct the rescue operation.
After firefighters freed the man from the tree limb, they utilized a harness to lower him to the ground. The man was then placed on a stretcher and transported to a local hospital.
