Robert “Scott” Harris, 72 of Ocala, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15,2023.

Scott was born in Kenosha, WI on July 26,1951 to Bryon and Marcia Harris. He graduated from Tremper High School in 1969. He was a star on the high school football team and boxed in the Golden Gloves Amateur Boxing League.

Scott served proudly in the US Air Force from 1971 through 1975; he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. His dedication to the military and those who served was evident throughout his life.

His love for football continued as he co-managed a football team for the Christian Youth Foundation for 11 years. Scott loved cars and racing and regularly followed Sprint car, Nascar and Formula One.

Scott married Marlys Chell Harvey on October 17, 1993. Their blended family included three sons and one daughter. Over the years, they were blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In 2004, he purchased his first Harley Davidson motorcycle; he rode for 15 years to include 12 trips to Sturgis, SD as well as many rides throughout western and northern US and Canada. This was not only a dream, but some of his fondest memories.

Scott was employed by Yellow Freight as an over-the-road truck driver for 40 years. He logged millions of miles. He was licensed for driving triple trailers, a skill not for the faint of heart.

In 2017, Scott and Marlys retired and moved to Ocala, Fl. Retirement afforded Scott the time to develop his shooting skills at the gun range. He developed a love for Tai Chi and was very disciplined at building his core strength at his community gym. He was the Membership Chairman for the Stone Creek Veteran’s Association and was actively involved in promoting veteran’s causes in Marion County.

Scott is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marlys and their family: Richard Harris of Hemet, CA,
Brian Harvey (Kate) of Shakopee, MN, Kristen Harvey-Hill (Les) of Champlin, MN and Kevin Harvey (Heather) of Bradenton, Fl., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as Scott’s sister, Berkie Harris of Ocala, FL. He is preceded in death by his father, Byron Harris, his mother Marcia Harris and his nephew Jesse Pejko.
