A registered sex offender was arrested by Marion County deputies on Tuesday morning after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a Silver Springs home and threatened to shoot any responding law enforcement officers.
Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, October 3, the Marion County Communications Center received a call in reference to a verbal disturbance at a home located in the 1390 block of N Highway 314A in Silver Springs, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller informed the sheriff’s office that a man, identified as Michael Tindall, had a rifle and “would shoot if any law enforcement responded.”
MCSO deputies responded to the residence, and they were able to safely remove the caller from the home.
According to the sheriff’s office, Tindall remained barricaded inside the residence, and the MCSO SWAT team soon arrived on scene. As the standoff ensued, the 1390 block of N Highway 314A was closed for a mile in each direction.
In a social media post, MCSO stated that deputies eventually made contact with Tindall and took him into custody on Tuesday morning. The roadway was also reopened.
No further details were provided by the sheriff’s office.
As of 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a booking photo of Tindall was not yet available.
