Three readers submitted letters to Ocala-News.com to share their thoughts on the rapid growth in Ocala/Marion County.
“Poor Ocala is being overrun with building. It’s downright wrong. The beautiful horse farms are going by the wayside. I do believe the World Equestrian Center is having this impact and not a good one. There will be so much traffic here, it won’t be like it was or even is now. I am heartbroken that this is happening to our lovely county. Someone is getting rich and it isn’t us. Stop the building,” says Ocala resident Deborah Martelle.
“I absolutely agree, there should be a new construction ban for 5 years in Ocala. The traffic and accidents are ridiculous. The pay is awful and our beautiful community is being ruined. Pretty soon we will look like Orlando,” says Cheryl Perrone, Ocala resident.
“This place used to beautiful and quaint, and now it’s like Orlando. Thousands of houses, apartments, and store fronts. Streets and traffic lights overwhelmed by volume, and you can’t get from point A to B without watching the light change multiple times. People in charge should be ashamed of what they let happen to our county. Wait till the water runs out,” says Ocala resident Phil Hall.
