A 41-year-old Fort McCoy man with a prior felony battery conviction was arrested for allegedly kicking a woman off a bed, climbing on top of her, and striking her in the face during an argument that turned physical.

On Wednesday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a local residence in reference to a domestic battery incident. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the female victim who advised that Robert Allen Johnson, Jr. had punched her in the face, according to the arrest report.

The victim stated that she had been arguing with Johnson for approximately three weeks leading up to the incident. At around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, she stated that she was laying in bed with Johnson when an argument ensued over him trying to “kick her out” of the home, according to the report.

The victim told the deputy that Johnson proceeded to kick her in the back several times, forcing her off the side of the bed and onto the bedroom floor. According to the victim, Johnson then allegedly climbed on top of her and struck her in the face, as well as on the back of the head, with a “closed fist and open hand.”

After being struck by Johnson, the victim stated that she bit him in an attempt to “try and stop the attack.” She advised that Johnson responded by holding her with both arms, and she proceeded to scream for her adult daughter who was at the residence, according to the report.

When the victim’s daughter entered the bedroom, Johnson let go of the victim, and the victim was able to leave the room and call 911.

The victim’s daughter told the deputy that she heard the victim scream her name, though she did not witness any physical altercation between Johnson and the victim. According to the victim’s daughter, Johnson admitted to her that he “hit the victim.”

In the report, the deputy noted that the victim had several injuries to her face. Her left eye was “severely swollen and bruised,” and she was barely able to open it. In addition, her lower lip was bruised and lacerated.

The deputy made contact with Johnson in front of the residence, and he stated, “Just take me to jail.” He then made several spontaneous statements, including that the victim bit his lip during the argument in the bedroom. He claimed that he struck the victim in the eye to “get her off him,” according to the report.

Johnson claimed that he “did not do anything wrong,” and he told the deputy that he was “standing his ground.” After being read his Miranda rights, Johnson stated that the victim bit his “armpit area” and struck his lip during the altercation. He then admitted that he punched the victim, though he claimed it was in “self-defense.”

The deputy noted in the report that there were no visible marks or injuries on Johnson’s body. Both Johnson and the victim declined medical treatment.

A criminal history search of Johnson revealed that he has a prior battery conviction in July of 2013 in Lake County.

Johnson was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where he is currently being without bond. He is facing a felony charge for battery (second or subsequent offense).

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
