James “Jimmy” Wilson, 71, passed away on December 25, 2023 in Ocala, Florida. He was born on August 11, 1952, in Genoa, Nebraska, to Richard D. Wilson and Donna J. Wilson. Jimmy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Jimmy was a fun-loving and hard-working man. He enjoyed various activities such as camping at the beach, vacationing in mountain cabins, fishing, watching NASCAR and riding his Harley.
After graduation from high school, Jimmy proudly served in the US Navy Seabees from 1971 to 1975. His dedication to his military service was commendable, and he was an invaluable asset to his unit.
Following his military service, Jimmy embarked on a successful career in the construction field. He owned his own aluminum business before transitioning to work as a heavy equipment operator for Acme Fill and employed by his long-time friend, Richard McGinley. His expertise and hard work were highly regarded.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Andrea Purvis Wilson, and Uncle Glenn Wilson.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Cherie Middleton Wilson, his sons Scott J. Wilson and Brandon C. Wilson, and his stepsons Eric J. Delisle and family, Michael Manning, cousins Jaci D. Miller, Linda J Werts and Susan Brandt and their families, sisters-in-law Sandy Burke and family and Laura Middleton (Micheal), brother-in-law Wayne Middleton and family, Andrea’s sister Luana Wood and family, Andrea’s brother Robbie Purvis and family.
He was also a proud grandfather to Tessa Wilson, Alissa W. Baker (Jarhett), Maddie Manning, Luke Wilson, Ivelisse Wilson as well as a proud great-grandfather to Landon Baker, Westin Baker and Ava Grace Baker.
No memorial would be complete without mentioning Jimmy’s many wonderful and loyal friends. He loved seeing them succeed and would always steer business their way if he could. The family is so thankful for the outpouring of love and respect for Jimmy before his death.
A Celebration of Life will be planned to occur within the next few months providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together and honor Jimmy’s memory. Jimmy’s presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
