pothole in road (stock image)

To the Editor:

I have called numerous times to Marion County’s road maintenance division for the last five years. I pay property taxes, county taxes, and so on, but yet our roads on SW 133rd Street and all of SW 14th Street Road are never maintained. We have spent over $20,000 on three vehicles we own for maintenance and repairs due to road damages.

They say they will fix it, but they don’t. The roads are so rough, with lots of potholes and a lot of washouts. Heck, there’s a road construction sign from five years ago too, and it is still sitting on the side of road where I put it after being on my property for over a month. I called and told them, and they say someone will pick it up, but they never do.

Why should I pay county taxes or road taxes if they ain’t fixing our roads? Some delivery services won’t drive down these two roads because of how bad they are. We would like to have someone get to the bottom of this. I’m tired of the roads damaging our vehicles. Our neighbors that were there for 25 years moved cause they were tired of their nice truck and car getting ruined.
