Ocala Fire Rescue announced the addition of a new emergency service response vehicle stationed in Southwest Ocala to address an area that has seen a surge in development.
In a press release issued by Ocala Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Ashley Lopez, the department provided details on its new Rescue 6 vehicle, which was officially welcomed at Station 6 on Friday.
The city celebrated the vehicle’s inauguration with a traditional push-in ceremony, which honors firefighting heritage and community service.
The new vehicle is part of a continuing effort to bolster the department’s capacity to “provide emergency services in a region experiencing rapid growth.”
“This addition comes at a time when Southwest Ocala witnesses a surge in development, including both commercial and residential projects,” reads the statement from the department.
Ocala’s Fire Station No. 6 is located at 5220 Southwest 50th Court.
“The addition of Rescue 6 will further facilitate our delivery of rapid, life-saving interventions throughout Ocala,” said Ocala Fire Rescue Chief Clint Welborn in the statement.
The rescue unit will be operational and will begin providing emergency services this coming Monday, April 15, according to the department.
