City’s Aquatic Fun Centers re-opening for Summer

The City of Ocala’s Aquatic Fun Centers will reopen to the public later this month, and one will host a couple of sessions this weekend.

The Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center (2390 SE 36th Avenue) will open on Saturday, May 18, for two sessions only. Beginning on Saturday, May 25, the facility will be open seven days a week.

The Hampton Aquatic Fun Center (255 NW Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) will also reopen to the public on Saturday, May 25.

During the season, the Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center and Hampton Aquatic Fun Center will be open seven days a week.

Two sessions, in the morning (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and afternoon (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.), will be offered on Tuesdays through Saturdays. On Sundays and Mondays, both facilities will have afternoon sessions only, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission for a single session is $2 for children (ages 17 and under) and $3.50 for adults (ages 18 and up).

Holiday hours will be available this year on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) and Independence Day (Thursday, July 4). On those two holidays, both morning and afternoon swim sessions will be offered.

According to the city, both Aquatic Fun Centers have received several upgrades, including new slides with double flumes and a sunshade at the top of the slide entry. In addition, both facilities have spray features, a waterfall, and waterslides.

Each pool is ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant, with zero-inch depth entry for easy access and a maximum depth of five-and-a-half feet.

The Aquatic Fun Centers offer several aquatic programs, including Learn to Swim lessons, an Aqua Fit water aerobics class for ages 50 and up, and the Junior Lifeguards program for young teens (ages 13 to 15) who are interested in serving as lifeguards.

Outside coolers, drinks, and food are not permitted at either Aquatic Fun Center. Concessions are available.
