A taproom and eatery in east Ocala that was open for just over six months before temporarily closing in April has announced that it will not re-open its doors.
The Sunny Pint permanently closed its location at 4901 E Silver Springs Blvd, Suite 503.
Located within the Six Gun Plaza, the business made the announcement on Monday evening.
“We are heartbroken to announce that we will not be re-opening our Ocala location,” reads a statement posted to the company’s social media channels.
Ocala-News.com first reported the opening of The Sunny Pint’s Ocala location last September.
In April, business owners Susan Sidoti and Simone Waddell took to their YouTube channel to provide more details about the taproom’s temporary closure.
At the time, Sidoti and Waddell alluded to their unfamiliarity with the Ocala market and cited inconsistent sales as the reason for the closure.
On Monday, Sidoti and Waddell provided more details on the permanent closure.
“We were having a really hard time balancing being in the two shops, so that we could really make them sing. No matter what we did, we just do not have the bandwidth to do two locations,” said Waddell, referring to the business owners’ locations in Ocala and Wildwood.
Waddell said the businesses did better when one of the owners was on site “pretty much every day,” and that both businesses were suffering as they split their time between the locations.
The Wildwood locations will honor gift cards purchased at the Ocala location, according to the owners.
“We had a nice fanbase going in Ocala. We really, we can’t thank you enough, for giving us so much love while we were there, our short time there,” said Waddell.
“It was a very, very difficult decision,” added Sidoti.
“We made an awesome space there, and it just breaks our hearts,” said Waddell.
Waddell and Sidoti first opened The Sunny Pint in Wildwood in 2020. The business owners began working on their Ocala location in December 2022, replacing the former MAE Brewing Company.
