An 8-year-old Ocala boy who has made it into the final round for “Best Mullet” in the United States with a hairdo he dubbed the “Marion County Masterpiece,” has out-fundraised all his fellow competitors and generated over $7,000 in donations for Homes for Wounded Warriors.
Jack Kuentjes has made it into the third and final round of the 2024 USA Mullet Championship.
In July, Jack’s mullet was selected among hundreds of entrants as one of the top 100. Now, Jack’s mullet is one of 25 that made the final round of the competition, which features children split into three age brackets: Lil’ Nuggets (ages 0-4), Mid Mullets (ages 5-7), and Big Kids (ages 8-12).
Voting for the competition is open through August 21 and a champion will be crowned on Wednesday, August 28.

Jack, who began growing his mullet three years ago when his dad adopted the same hairstyle, says his mullet is a “big part” of who he is and that it has survived multiple grade levels and a brain surgery.
According to the USA Mullet Championship, the contest has a weighted voting system that takes fan voting, fundraising, and judging into account, with each category carrying a weight that is combined into a total score for the individual contestants.
During the competition, donations can be made on behalf of the contestants to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors. Allen’s nonprofit organization is dedicated to providing critically injured U.S. military veterans with injury-specific, accessible, and mortgage-free homes.
The amount of money raised for charity on behalf of each contestant will contribute to their overall score in the competition.
As of Monday, August 19, Keuntjes has raised $7,842, which leads all competitors.
