A Central Florida family plans to open at least two new car washes in Ocala, where ten car washes have opened in the past three years.
Zoom Express Car Wash locations are currently planned for 3450 SE Maricamp Road and 1544 E Silver Springs Boulevard.
Ocala-News.com previously reported Zoom’s plans to build a new location along Maricamp Road in June.
The announcement of the new location on East Silver Springs Boulevard, however, comes nearly a year after Ocala-News.com first reported that ModWash was opening a new car wash at the same space in east Ocala.
That sign has since been removed and replaced with a sign for Zoom. Although signs have been erected at both sites, construction is not yet underway at either of the sites in east Ocala.
According to corporate records, the car wash company is owned by the Kirby family, a Central Florida family that is planning to open at least six locations across the area.
In addition to the locations in Ocala, the company plans to open car washes in Orlando, Maitland, Sanford, Lake Nona, and Okeechobee.
The new Zoom Car Wash will be situated less than a couple blocks away from Bay Blast Car Wash, about three miles away from RaceWash on Maricamp Road, and less than four miles away from Caliber Car Wash, which opened its first location in Ocala on East Silver Springs Boulevard in 2021 and its second location along Maricamp Road in 2022.
In the past five years, Ocala has seen at least 10 car washes open within city limits.
SuperWash, which is the sixth location in the RaceWash family, opened in Ocala in June 2024. RaceWash opened its fifth location in 2022, and its fourth location in 2021.
Tidal Wave Auto Spa opened its second location in Ocala in March. It opened its first location on State Road 200 in 2021.
Take 5 Car Wash opened its first location in Ocala along Maricamp Road in February 2023.
Mr. Clean Car Wash opened its sole location in Ocala in March 2022.
