In addition to intermittent lanes closing on Interstate 75 this week, several onramps, offramps, and a rest area on the highway will also close for resurfacing and roadwork.
The Florida Department of Transportation has provided details about several lane and onramp/offramp closures that will take place on Interstate 75 beginning this evening. Last week, FDOT announced major lane closures along I-75 through November.
From Sunday, September 8, through Wednesday, September 11, the inside lane of the highway at the County Road 475 overpass will close for boring for the “Interstate 75 (I-75) Planning, design, and Engineering” study. The closures are in effect every night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Sporadic lane closures will be in effect on the inside turn lane from State Road 44 to the I-75 on-ramp, and in the southbound lane of the highway near the County Road 462 and CR 475 overpass. Those overnight closures will be in effect from Sunday, September 8, through Saturday, September 14, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Northbound and southbound shoulder sweeping will take place from mile markers 305 to 335 overnight on Monday, September 9, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. The sweeping will occur on the offramps and onramps for exits 309, 314, 321, and 329, according to FDOT.
On Tuesday, September 10, the rest area located south of State Road 200 will close overnight, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning. Located near mile marker 346 in Marion County, the closure will allow crews to resurface the rest area’s entrance and exit ramps.
State crews are currently working on multiple projects along I-75, including the interchanges, rest areas, exit and entrance ramps, and medians. These projects ultimately will result in an entirely resurfaced stretch of highway in Marion County, reconstructed median crossovers, new guardrails, new pavement, drainage work, and other improvements on the interstate.
