To the Editor:

I had a realtor show me that neighborhood, and I was so taken back by the traffic on I-75. I have lived in the Summerfield area since I moved here 20 years ago, and what a disappointment.

I worked in Ocala for years and watched it being destroyed little by little and then I retired and stayed home and I have watched the Spanish Springs area and Lady Lake area being built up until there’s not a single lot left. From South of Orlando to the north of Gainesville, we have watched it all being destroyed by greed.

I heard the other day that Ocala is going to have to take down the sign, that greets the public that Ocala is no longer the capital of Horse Country. It may have already been done. I don’t go that far into Ocala anymore so I don’t know.

I do know that if that apartment is going to be built along side the highway, Ocala would or already has, lost it’s charm as a small town and will look like any other city where it is quite common to see apartment buildings along side of major roads.

And put in a traffic light where Sam’s Club is! That’s the most dangerous 3-way anywhere in Ocala. I also want to leave the area, but the building craze is going on everywhere and there is no place to go that use to be like Ocala was 20 years ago.
