To the Editor:

With all the accidents and deaths here in Marion County caused by driving under the influence, why would we add to that by legalizing recreational use of marijuana? We don’t have large enough departments of police/Sheriff or EMS/EMT to handle the load as it is.

Our jails are overcrowded and understaffed. Our court system is taxed. Our emergency rooms and hospitals are full. Who is going to pay to bring all that infrastructure up to speed?

Us.

And what about our recovery community? Giving unhealthy people a way to use drugs legally is not going to help them. More taxpayers dollars will have to be put into our state run rehab facilities.

We need roads and infrastructure, not more DUI’s, deaths, and hospitalizations
