My Mother, who was known mostly as “Momma Kay, Aunt Kay and Grandma”, was born October 15, 1940, on her mother’s birthday, to Clara Belle Yoder and Norman Eugene Yoder in Richmond Indiana. She passed on November 9, 2024. She is survived by her three children, Aleasha, Melanie and Brian, her sister Judy Berry, Grandchildren, Great grandchildren, Stepchildren and many she touched along the way.
She left a strong impact of kindness and love in this world. She was a constant teacher, always encouraging to do your very best, to always keep trying.
Eva Kay married her childhood sweetheart, Elmer Spivey in 1958 and started her family. She was proud of her family. For them she would fill her house with wonderful smells of homemade meals, enjoyed gardening and passing down her talents to the next generation. Her joyful singing around the house was constant.
She always had a kind word and encouragement for everyone. She was a strong woman ahead of her time that ran her own businesses, with pride. Welcoming guest into her home and businesses was always a joy for her.
Later in life she was lucky enough to find love a second time. She married Clark Hodges, and they enjoyed traveling and spending time together as their family grew. She fell in love with this area of Florida and now she will be laid to rest next to him in her beloved Ocala Forest.
She will be missed by many who enjoyed her love of life! We will try to keep her resolve to find joy and kindness in our hearts. Think of her and smile. I know that is what she would want.
